The Sylvia Vlosky Yaschik Jewish Studies Center at the College of Charleston has expanded its facilities and is including an innovative new concept, a kosher/vegetarian dining hall. Notably, the new facility will be open to students, faculty, staff and the community, thereby providing greater connections between the college community and downtown Charleston, South Carolina.

The dining hall has been named in honor of Dr. Martin Perlmutter, Director of the Yaschick/Arnold Jewish Studies Program.  Donors have supported a number of new initiatives, including the construction that doubles the size of the center, adding classroom space and the new dining hall.  The donor recognition display includes the opportunity for adding donors who make future gifts in support of related aspects of the Jewish Studies Program.

Subtlety was a key factor in the design of this donor recognition display.  The frame is constructed of Corian and clear acrylic with accents of Jerusalem stone, corresponding to the emotionally significant imported stone used elsewhere in the facility.  The categories of giving are intentionally subdued and relate to Jewish traditions.  Heurista partnered with Honorcraft for the design detailing, fabrication and installation of this display.
